Dynamic Battery Modeling for PHEV Application

The objective of the project is to develop a battery model to accurately reflect battery’s performance under different dynamic loads, environmental conditions, and battery conditions, furthermore to provide precise estimation of the battery’s state of charge, state of health, and state of function. Completed model serves the FREEM system through protecting the PHEV’s battery pack from harmful charging-discharging process, prolonging the longevity of its battery pack, and helping make the best usage out of the battery pack to reduce its size. While incorporated within the intelligent energy management system (iEMS), the battery model can provide valuable information for iEMS to make better decision on its power allocation.
